Thank you to Shihan Dana Abbott and Samurai Sports for the opportunity to use the ActionFlex combative weaponry. I use these products when training my students and also in competition. This modern soft weaponry makes it fun to use and as a trainer, I do not fear for my student’s safety.

I heartily endorse these products and urge others to use these unique swords and weaponry.

I was exposed to chanbara six months ago and it the best and most economical way to practice weapons at full speed and full power without kendo bogu. The weapons are very durable and balanced, and the technical support and expertise generously provided by you is worth the price of the weapons. The skill gained in regards to weapons techniques and their practical application through the practice of chanbara is invaluable.

I have owned a dojo since 1994. Since I added chanbara to my schedule my student retention has improved. We use the Action Flex swords from Samurai Sports and my students are very pleased with how they feel and last.

I have tried other soft padded weapons and find that the Action Flex line is the best for our needs. Action Flex swords allows us to play hard and not feel the pain.

My name is Marc “Crafty Dog” Denny. I am the ‘guiding force” of a real contact stick-fighting group known as “The Dog Brothers.” Our fighting with rattan sticks and minimal gear has been turned down by the UFC for being “just too extreme.”

We hold a semi-annual day of fights known as “the Dog Brothers Gathering of the Pack.” Over the 15 years we have been doing this we have tried many, many kinds of padded sticks. The results have always been frustrating; and, in one case a fiberglass rod core shot out the end of the insulation upon impact and shattered a large mirror at the Inosanto Academy. How dangerous!

For the last couple of years I have been using the ActionFlex sticks and am very happy with them. The people who train with me are impressed as well – they promptly go out and get their own. In my professional opinion they are a superior product. The covering does not have “drag” the way duct tape/pipe insulation and other commonly used materials do. The core has an ideal blend of flex and substance, unlike the shatter-prone tendency of PVC pipe or rattan, which is too skinny and wimpy or too substantive and painful. Excellent characteristics! On top of this, service is excellent and I have been pleased with the willingness to modify models to my specifications.

I recommend Action Flex sticks.

I am the School Program Director and Head Instructor for A.S.K. Martial Arts located in Maryland. We teach traditional Korean Tae Kwon Do karate in an after-school program in cooperation with the Montgomery County Public School System and the local chapter of the PTA, which sponsors us.

We have recently incorporated chanbara into our regular curriculum and have noticed several surprising benefits. It has developed a stronger awareness on the defensive posture of our students, has increased their reflexes and timing, and most importantly it has increased their focus and concentration.
Perhaps the greatest benefit was that the students loved it. Chanbara incorporates the values and traditions of kendo (Japanese Samurai Sword Fencing) with the excitement and skill development of competitive sports. We have used chanbara as an incentive to our students as we will only have matches if we complete our regular tasks for the day. This has produced a more disciplined and focused class setting with less wasted time.

I wholeheartedly recommend chanbara and Mr. Dana Abbott’s professional and sincere approach on this new and exciting twist on a very traditional and respected martial “art” style.

Sincerely,
Gary Lattanzio
