Goshindo offers a very functional and motivating approach to the age-old art of the Japanese sword. Everything learned can and will be applied directly into practical everyday living. Practicing Goshindo offers insight on how to meld mind and body thus making you more aware of your surroundings. The art of the sword has remained elusive up to now. Only recently have the masters unveiled that mystery and with that elusiveness removed, you are now able to understand the eight basic Toyama-Iai-Batto-Do patterns without speaking Japanese. Traditional classes using the Japanese language are available for those who wish to take advantage of that extra pursuit.

Goshindo was designed for beginners and intermediate plus advanced enthusiasts. Goshindo begins with a wooden sword and advances through various stages of learning until the time wood is exchanged for steel. The usage of the steel blade will further enhance sword drawing, cutting and sheathing techniques. The earning of strong basic sword skills is a mandatory requirement to be able to advance to other systems and styles.

The student can also benefit by practicing other iaido styles which are offered by Samurai Sports. These additional styles are known and practiced throughout the world. When your education in one series is completed I am sure you will feel confident enough to proceed to your next learning experience.
